100% Owned by StrikePoint but San Gold Corporation has Option
The Strike Point Project ("the Project") has a high degree of interest because of the proximity of the area to the recent high-grade discoveries in the Hinge Zone by San Gold Corporation ("San Gold"). The Strike Point Project boundary is approximately 750 metres WNW of the Rice Lake Mine and 1.25 km West of the portal for the Hinge Mine, both belonging to San Gold.
The structures on the Strike Point Project are the same rock types as the Hinge Zone volcanics plus the mine unit (San Antonio Mine or SAM unit) of Rice Lake Mine and the lakeshore Basalt visit extend on to the Project as well. The structures and potential for extension of the Hinge Zone according to the San Gold geological model make this a highly prospective project for the Company.
The Project contains 24 claims which cover an area of 3132 ha. The Contact Project (not part of the Option agreement with San Gold) has two claims and covers an area of 532 ha. Access is excellent with many roads and trails through the properties.
Strike Point
The historical mine production from the Rice Lake Mine (formerly the San Antonio Mine) was 1.5 million ounces. Virtually all of the historical ounces came from the San Antonio Mine (SAM) unit, a gabbroic body 15 -- 190m thick that has intruded volcanic rocks of the western Rice Lake Greenstone Belt. San Gold has recently discovered the Hinge Zone in the volcanic rocks in the hangingwall of the SAM unit. The current resources in the new Hinge Zone accessed by the Hinge Mine ramp are 1.5 million ounces (all categories) as of March, 2010. San Gold continues to execute an aggressive exploration program in the Hinge Zone area plus underground exploration in the Rice Lake Mine.
Sink
Sphalerite and calcopyrite in mafic to intermediate volcanic and derived sedimentary rocks are present at Sink.
Luana
Shear zones strike 270 degrees for up to 300m and contain carbonate-rich quartz veins 0.5 -- 2.0m wide containing minor gold with pyrite are present at Luana.
Vanson
Quartz in pods and lenses occur in clastic sedimentary rocks occur at Vanson. A four-level shaft was sunk and some gold was produced at Vanson, as well.
North Horseshoe Lake
Chloritized felsic rock composed of sandstone or felsic volcanic rock contains anastomosing quartz veins 20 -- 50cm wide with low values for gold occur at North Horseshoe Lake. The vein was drilled in the past but the reports and drill core are not available.
Contact Lake
Iron Horse
At the Iron Horse occurrence, white quartz veins up to 120m long and 30cm wide cutting foliated granite of the Ross River Pluton occurs. A grab sample reported up to 3.2 g/t Au.
Thorensen
At the Thorensen occurrence with granodiorite, a shear zone 35m long by 6m wide contains several quartz veins with pyrite from which three grab samples reported 7.2 -- 23.4 g/t Au. Three holes were drilled and encountered several of the quartz veins. Similar occurrences are present at Eva, Splay and Apex, off property to the south where shafts were sunk and values of up to 47g/t were reported.
In 2011 it is anticipated to be prospecting and mapping known mineral occurrences and increasing the geological potential of the claims based on previous exploration done by other owners.
